Stitch Workshop: Herringbone Stitch – Basic Techniques, Advanced Results is one of those books that boggles my mind yet again. Jewelry makers who enjoy this style of beading must have never-ending patience and a true eye for detail. There are 26 projects included designed by a variety of designers in a variety of styles ranging from simple to bold and colorful to delicate, all with a good combination of well detailed, written instructions, stepped-out diagrams, and color stepped out photos. These details do make me believe that re-creating the designs is achievable, for both beginners and intermediate beaders looking to learn more about the herringbone stitch and a variety of styles and options incorporating it.
Among the variety of necklaces, bracelets, earrings and brooches, these two immediately caught my eye. I love the combination of copper dipped leaves, along with beaded leaves and clusters, combined with the smooth vine-like lariat.
These unique bails combining the herringbone stitch and the peyote stitch showcase unique beads in a truly eye-catching way.
If you enjoy working with seed beads and are looking for a new twist on intricate design I think this book would be a good addition to your collection.
