If you’re inspired to create beautiful mosaics but don’t know where to start, we highly recommend the beautiful book that is Beginner’s Guide To Making Mosaics. Written by French mosaic artist Delphine Lescuyer, Beginner’s Guide To Making Mosaics includes almost everything you’ll need to create gorgeous mosaic pieces. (you’ll need to provide the tools and tiles of course!)
With projects ranging from a simple Cloud Paperweight to Garden Ornaments to a stunning Odorico Windowsill, everyone will find a project to suit their needs and their experience level. Materials (including Up-cycled Materials), Backings/Substrates, Adhesives, Grout, and Tools are all clearly illustrated and explained, as are Techniques for Cutting and Grouting.
Lescuyer recommends her Striped Flowerpot as a good project for mosaic newbies. “(T)hey’re not particularly difficult. And since they can never be perfect, they have a certain charm I call “recycled chic.”
The books step-by-step instructions are easy-to-follow and well illustrated. With a little time and effort, you’ll be a master mosaic artist in no time!
