Looking for a way to take a purchased jar and give it a high end look? Then this is a simple and easy fix for that. Ana found this cute jar; but not how she wanted it to look. So, with a clever upgrade, she took this owl jar from cute to elegant!

  • Owl jar (available at Big Lots, Michaels)
  • Jelly Belly (Costco 4lb jar)
  • Rust-Oleum 2x Ultra Cover Gloss Seaside
  • Crystal drawer pull
  • 8mm screw
  • 8mm washer
  • Hammer and nail
  • Screw driver

Trace lid on paper, cut out

Fold paper in fourths, place inside lid, mark center

Hammer nail on marked dot (note you may need to use a bigger nail or hammer a couple times to go hole big enough for screw)

Make sure screw will fit in hole

Spray lid with spray paint outside on a box. Let dry.

Push the screw through the washer and hole in the lid.

Turn over lid

Screw the knob on the lid

Pour the Jelly Bellies into the owl jar

  1. OMG…must have taken a long time and a lot of effort to spray paint the lid of that owl jar. I learned so much from this project…..NOT!
