This brand new line of paints from Plaid truly has a lot to offer.  I have not gotten this excited over paint in a long time…One paint for all your craft surfaces - Martha Stewart Crafts™ Premium Acrylic Paints from Plaid work on wood, glass, paper, plastic, metal, and fabric. Durable and fade resistant, these paints are usable on indoor or outdoor surfaces, and it’s weather resistant. It is even top-rack dishwasher safe when used on glass and allowed to cure for 21 days. All that, and there’s more. Available in 160 colors which include 80 Satin, 40 Glitter, 20 Metallic/Pearl, and 20 High Gloss. More than a rainbow of colors…Gogi Berry, Scottish Highlands, Beach Glass, Fire Opal, Meadowlark…Even the names spark your creative muse into high gear. Having had the opportunity to review this line of products at the recent CHA show in Rosemont, I was truly like a kid in a candy store (or a scrapbooker at a deluxe paper clearance sale!). Specialty finishes are available to transform the paint into a glaze, to create a crackle finish, wintery snow like finish, and even glow in the dark options. And tools – tools galore. Unique stencils, a variety of application tools that fit right onto the bottles themselves (and I love that the bottles have a small opening when you remove the flip top cap  piece – less space for air to enter and dry out the paint, and in my case, it will make me use them the way they are intended to be used – by pouring the amount needed onto a palette instead of just removing the lid and dipping the brush, which always leads to a mess and mixed colors), and a kit that can transform the paint into spray paint.

Demonstration 1

I had the opportunity to try this paint myself and wasn’t disappointed by the promises made in their promotional material. I experimented with two shades of the Glitter paint and one shade of the Pearl. The texture is creamy enough to coat smoothly, yet not too thick. The Pearl (Gazing Ball), gave a good even cover with just one coat.  I applied the paint to a wooden heart embellishment, a plastic slide mount, light and dark cardstock, and a glass bottle. It worked well on all surfaces. Next I tried the Glitter – Blueberry Slush and Sunstone. This ultra-fine glitter paint in Martha Stewart’s signature colors also worked well on all the surfaces I tested. The paint itself is colorless, allowing the fine glitter maximum sparkle when dry. One coat leaves just a hint of fairy dust effect on paper or other surfaces.  When I applied the Blueberry Slush over a coat of dry Pearl Gazing Ball on

cardstock, then on the wings of the dragonfly on this glass bottle, the basecoat still shone through well with a hint of sparkle. When multiple coats are applied, the bling factor increased to a maximum light catching effect.
