Explore, Create, Resinate; Mixed Media Techniques using ICE Resin® by Jen Cushman is an amazing book. Stunningly interesting, eclectic and artistic pieces by a variety of artists are featured throughout. Jen begins by explaining what makes ICE Resin unique, then guides the reader through mixing and pouring, embedding and inclusions, using photos and sealing images, working on open backed bezels, adding color, making resin paper, casting, and more. Tips and techniques are explained to make working with ICE Resin easy for even a beginner. Each page makes you pause and take a more deeper look at the projects displayed.
Delightful surprises are found - among my favorites are the preserved real yellow-jacket in “Her Majesty” by Jane Salley, the real butterflywing in Jen Cushman’s “Transformation,” the cast bird in Kecia Deveney’s “Peeking Out from the Cage,” and the unique textures and shapes combined in “Bullet Shell” by Susan Lenart Kazmer. It's easy to see why Explore, Create, Resinate won the Independent Publisher Book Award! I have been enjoying exploring the many uses of ICE Resin myself as an artist, and this book made me want to push aside other projects and focus even more on all that can be done with this product.
