Poolside Refreshment Tray

Serve your guests a refreshing drink poolside on this hand-decorated tray and they are sure to be impressed at your creativity!   EarthSafe Finishes Satin Marine Varnish ensures the tray is waterproofed so your art is protected.

Materials:

Chipboard/pressboard tray

EarthSafe Finishes Generation Green Acrylic Paints in assorted colors, EarthSafe Finishes Satin Marine Varnish

Makin’s Clay in assorted colors, Makin’s ‘Florals’ Push Mold

Elmer’s Craft Bond Adhesive

Paintbrushes

Flower stencils (optional)

½” wide green satin ribbon

Instructions:

1. Begin by painting your tray inside and out with a coat of EarthSafe Generation Green Clay paint.  Let dry.
2. If desired, use stencil and pencil to trace floral pattern onto bottom of inside of tray.  The flowers on this tray were just freeform painted to coordinate with the clay flowers.
3. Gently push small amount of Makin’s Clay into selected flower on push mold.  Use fingertips to spread clay into entire area of flower, but ensure excess clay is not spilling out on back onto mold itself.  Release flower by gently bending mold.   Repeat with additional colors to create desired number of flowers and leaves. 
4. Using Elmer’s Craft Bond Adhesive, adhere flowers and leaves to sides near outside corners of frame (see photo).  (Note:  Makin’s Clay flowers can be mounted while still wet or once dry.)   Let clay flowers dry overnight.
5. Coat entire tray, including clay flowers, with EarthSafe Finishes Satin Marine Varnish.  Let dry.
6. Measure and cut ribbon to fit along inside bottom sides of tray.  Mount using Elmer’s Craft Bond Adhesive.
7. Wrap ribbon around top of handles as shown, using Elmer’s Craft Bond as adhesive when starting and finishing wrapping.
8. Serve your refreshments and accept the complements on your custom made tray!
